FAQ

What is GENYTH?

We are a team of Korean-American tattoo artists working out of Seoul, Korea, and New York, USA. Since 2014, we have been operating a tattoo supply business targeting the East Asian market. In March 2020, we opened a private studio in Times Square, NY, and in April 2023, we opened our own shop specializing in walk-in tattoos under the name Golden Era New York Tattoo House, also known as GENYTH.

Who works at GENYTH?

No one and everyone. Our system is unique - we are building a community of skilled tattoo artists and creating a system that will make customers want to visit us. Our artist lineup varies every day, and you can only check the list of available artists at our shop.

Can you explain the process of walk-in?

A walk-in tattoo means that you don't need to make an appointment in advance, and instead, you can walk into the tattoo shop and get a tattoo done right away, depending on the availability of the tattoo artist. Upon arrival at our shop, follow the steps with our staffs and check the list of artists available for the day.

What’s your walk-in tattoo price?

Our walk-in tattoo prices range from $150 to $250 per hour, and may vary depending on the artist. For more detailed information on each artist's rates, please refer to their respective pages.

How to make an appointment?

We don’t take any appointments here. If you want to make an appointment with one of our resident or guest artists, you should contact them directly.

About guest artists

We have guest artists from around the world, but we do not manage their schedules. For any inquiries, please contact the guest artist directly.

How to take care of the tattoo?

– If you got second skin (transparent adhesive bandaging like Dermshield, Tegaderm, Saniderm, etc)

Leave the second skin in place: Second-skin products like Dermshield are designed to be left on for several days, usually between 2 to 5 days, depending on your tattoo artist's instructions. During this time, the second skin acts as a protective barrier, shielding the tattoo from external contaminants while allowing the tattoo to breathe.

Avoid excessive moisture: While the second skin is on, it's essential to keep it dry. Avoid submerging the tattoo in water, such as swimming or soaking in baths. Also, be cautious when showering to prevent direct water pressure on the tattooed area. If the second skin gets wet, gently pat it dry with a clean towel.

Protect from sun exposure: Just like with traditional aftercare, it's crucial to keep the tattooed area out of direct sunlight during the healing process. If you need to be outside, cover the tattoo with clothing or use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF.

Remove the second skin properly: After the recommended period, carefully remove the second skin by slowly peeling it back from one corner. Pulling it off too quickly may cause discomfort or damage to the healing tattoo. If any adhesive residue remains on the skin, gently wash it off with mild soap and water.

Continue with regular aftercare: Once the second skin is removed, you should follow standard tattoo aftercare practices, such as gently washing the tattooed area with mild soap and lukewarm water, applying a thin layer of tattoo-specific ointment or fragrance-free moisturizer, and avoiding picking or scratching the tattoo.

– If you got normal plastic wrapping or absorbent pads covering with tape

Leave your bandage on for a minimum of 2-3 hours or overnight. (We would rather you leave it on longer as opposed to washing it in a dirty environment)
Keep it clean: Wash your tattoo gently with mild, fragrance-free soap and lukewarm water. Avoid using harsh or abrasive materials that could damage the tattoo or irritate the skin. Pat the area dry with a clean, soft towel.
Apply a thin layer of ointment or moisturizer: After cleaning, apply a thin layer of a tattoo-specific ointment or a fragrance-free, gentle moisturizer recommended by your tattoo artist or dermatologist. This helps keep the skin hydrated and promotes healing. Be careful not to overapply, as excessive moisture can lead to issues like excessive scabbing or color loss.
Avoid picking or scratching: It's essential to resist the temptation to scratch or pick at your tattoo, even if it feels itchy during the healing process. Picking at scabs can cause scarring or damage the tattoo's appearance. Let the scabs and flakes naturally slough off on their own.
Protect from the sun: Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight and avoid tanning beds during the healing process. UV rays can fade the colors and damage the healing skin. If you must be outside, cover the tattoo with clothing or use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF to protect it.
Avoid soaking: For the first few weeks, avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, or any activities that involve soaking the tattoo. Prolonged exposure to water can soften the skin and increase the risk of infection.
Stay away from tight clothing: Opt for loose-fitting, breathable clothing that won't rub against your tattoo. Friction from tight clothing can cause irritation and slow down the healing process.
Monitor for signs of infection: Keep an eye out for any signs of infection, such as excessive redness, swelling, prolonged pain, oozing pus, or the appearance of raised red streaks. If you notice any concerning symptoms, consult a healthcare professional promptly.

Can you explain what you are using?

We use vegan inks and disposable products to protect against second contamination. Specifically, we use inks from brands such as Dynamic, Intenze, Solid, and Eternal.
